It all started with my own wedding in 2024

Planning a wedding is full of decisions. Choosing a venue, the right dress that makes you feel special, the flowers, the table plans, the song choices… I could go on! But one of the things I didn’t expect to fall in love with in the decision-making was the stationery.

Mr B and I are both quite creative, so we unanimously decided to do as much of the wedding preparation as we possibly could ourselves. Our Save the Date came first, then the invitations, followed by the decor… and the flowers and all the other finer details. The collaboration of our creativity made the day even more special as every element had a part to play in our story.

The moment everything clicked

My beautiful friend is getting married this year, and I put myself forward to create their wedding invitations as a personal gift from me.

It wasn’t with a business plan in mind. It wasn’t because I wanted to avoid buying them a present. It was because I knew how much I would enjoy making them and how much she would appreciate the thought that I would put into them.

It wasn’t until I handed her the final invitations to hand out and saw her reaction and heard about the reaction of her guests that I actually thought…!’

Hey! I could and CAN actually do this!’

Not to turn this into a sob story or for seeking of sympathy, but confidence and self belief has been something I’ve struggled with all my life. Even to the point where I thought I would never get married myself! How wrong was I!

That simple (you would have thought) and overdue shift of mindset was the start of Elle & Ink.

Building something from the ground up

Starting a business isn’t as simple as designing a few invitations.

There have been logos that didn’t quite work, colour palettes I’ve changed more times than I care to admit, a website that’s been designed along the way otherwise I will NEVER get out there, and plenty of evenings spent learning new skills.

I’m still building. I’m still learning. And honestly, I think that’s one of the most exciting parts.

Every decision, every project and every challenge is helping shape what Elle & Ink will become.

Why wedding stationery

For me, wedding stationery is much more than just an invitation.

It’s about helping couples tell their story before their wedding day has even begun.

That’s what inspires me every time I sit down at my desk.

Looking ahead

Elle & Ink is still in its early chapters, and there’s a long way to go.

There will be new collections, new ideas, plenty of lessons, and no doubt a few mistakes along the way too.

But I’m excited to share every step of the journey here, and I’m so grateful you’ve chosen to follow along from the beginning.
