A Little Update from Behind the Scenes
If you’ve been following along here or over on Instagram or Facebook, you might have noticed that things have been a little quieter lately.
The truth is, I’m still here. I’m still designing, still making plans, still scribbling ideas down and still very much building Elle & Ink — I’m just doing it around a full-time job, everyday life and the slightly limited number of hours there seem to be in a day!
And I’m learning to be okay with that.

What I’m working on right now
Right now, my main focus is a current client’s wedding.
I’m creating their wedding day stationery, including menus, seating plans, name cards and all the small paper details that help bring the day together. It’s been lovely to focus on something so tangible, and I’m enjoying watching the designs become more than ideas on a screen — something that will play a real part in someone’s wedding day.
Alongside that, I’m still slowly working away on my signature collection.
It’s taking a little longer than I originally imagined — but I’m starting to realise that maybe that’s not a bad thing.
Building something takes time
When you start a small business, it’s very easy to look around at what everyone else is doing and feel like you should be doing more.
More products, posts, followers….. I’ve definitely fallen into that trap.
But I’m trying to remind myself that I’m not just trying to create a business that looks busy from the outside. I’m trying to build something with good foundations. That means taking the time to work out what Elle & Ink actually is, what I want it to offer, who I want to create for and how I want the whole thing to feel.
And those things don’t happen overnight.
No rushing this bit
I think there can be a lot of pressure, especially online, to constantly be launching something new.
But I don’t want to rush the signature collection just so I can say it’s finished. I want to give the designs time to develop.
I want to experiment, change my mind, try things again and make sure the finished collection actually feels like Elle & Ink.
So, while it might look a little quiet from the outside, there’s actually a lot happening in the background.
One step at a time
I’m learning that building a business alongside a full-time job means I have to work differently.
Some weeks I might have hours to spend designing. Other weeks, I might only manage a little bit of progress. And that’s okay.
Progress doesn’t always have to mean launching something new. Sometimes it’s simply making one decision, finishing one design, sending one email or spending half an hour figuring out what the next step should be. It all counts.
So, if you’re wondering where I’ve disappeared to — I haven’t!
I’m here, quietly building, learning and creating behind the scenes.
There’s lots more to come from Elle & Ink, but I’m going to let it happen in its own time.
Because I’d rather build something I’m genuinely proud of than rush something just for the sake of keeping up.
And hopefully, when the signature collection is finally ready to share, you’ll be able to see all those little pieces of time and thought that went into making it.
For now, it’s about enjoying the process and taking things one little step at a time.
Before I go…
This week I’m… Working on a lovely client’s wedding day stationery.
Currently designing: The little paper details that will help bring their wedding day together.
Slowly working on: My signature collection — one design at a time.
Currently reminding myself: That building something properly takes time.
Playlist on repeat: Enjoying the new Phoebe Bridgers album ‘Lost Weekend’
Next on my agenda: More client stationery, more signature collection designing and trying not to rush any of it.
See you in the next journal entry
